Loafers, loafers, loafers! Oh how we love them!
The perfect year-round shoe for our girls on the go whether its work or play.
For some, there is the unfortunate reality of needing to break their gorgeous loafers in before being able to strut around town.
No fear! We’ve all been there at some point…
So we asked some loafer lovers for their top tips to avoid the dreaded break in!
Tip 1: Use a leather conditioner
This is the top tip for getting that soft and comfy leather fast! Apply a small amount of leather conditioner to a cloth and dab on those problem areas. Put the shoes on while the product is still damp (make sure you wear old socks!) and this will help soften the leather. You can also massage the leather if you don't want to wear them.
Tip 2: Take it slow
Ah, the age-old advice of not rushing a new relationship… everyone’s least favourite reality. We know you’re busting to show off those new shoes but taking it slow can help you avoid disaster. Get to know your loafers at home before taking them to meet your parents! Wear some thick socks and rock them doing the laundry or doing the dishes for the first few days. Small wears will help get them to soften a bit more before walking 1000 miles.
(Bonus points if you wear them at home with some leather conditioner!)
Tip 3: Bring on the heat
A bit of heat can help loosen up those stubborn areas. Grab that trusty hair dryer and slip those loafers on. On a medium heat – fan those problem areas until they’re just warm. Then get your wiggle on to get some stretching happening.
